The Story of the BRO team

By day... Titia wakes up as Dr. Bat - a specialised bat ecologist and consultant with a background in endangered animal behaviour and welfare.

But by night... she dedicates herself to finding out what makes our bats tick and making sure everyone knows it. 

With her strong negotiation and business planning skills, Moira keeps everyone's head cool and makes sure all the bat enthusiasm goes through the proper channels.  She's the strong business woman the BRO needs!

Hannah has been passionate about nature and ecosystems from an early age and is an ecologist with expertise in a wide range of ecological matters. Her key focus is on finding management solutions to environmental challenges that work with nature’s principles and restore ecosystems as a whole using a landscape-scale approach. 

Hannah has been researching bats since 2011 and is excited by BRO’s opportunity to drive a better understanding of bats and the species’ many challenges to support better conservation outcomes in future.

Grant is a Senior Research Officer at the University of Waikato. He has been actively involved with bat research since 2018 and has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate student research projects.

The BRO provides a significant opportunity to develop funding sources for student and community research programmes and Grant hopes to provide his expertise with regards to funding applications and experimental design.

Sam is focused on developing executive-level partnerships, serving as a board member to numerous non-profit organisations, lending his skills as strategic adviser to aligned projects and assisting other social and environmental entrepreneurs to develop and execute their concepts.
